there is something really powerful about barefaced beauty. almost everyone can look good when 'beautified' with makeup but nothing can be as breathtaking as someone who naturally has 'it'.
how ahead of the game was allure magazine back in the day with this untouched beauty editorial?
Believe it or not I think we all have 'it', including you and I;)
lovely quote from Joni Mitchell:
"It was David Crosby, during the fresh-scrubbed California girl period of the 1960s, who convinced me to scrub my British Mod face and go back to the no make-up look. It was very liberating. I stuck with it long after the hippie movement was over. I became accustomed to the liberty of not wearing any make-up."
i remember this totally. that's how good and satisfying it was. i think nothing beats a direct unapologetic gaze like that. i agree with you, we all have it. we just don't tap into it too often. plus, people's sense of "natural" is so warped since every image we see, via media, is airbrushed beyond the limits. creates a very unhealthy basis for comparison.
one thing with this shoot though...hair color - not so natural. ;)
